Refilming/Reediting Blog: My House
On November 30th, I decided I needed to refilm a scene in the music video, because I didn't like the way I looked in one scene. After reviewing the clips from the earlier filming session on the 25th, this specific scene stood out to me. Since I played the rapper I wanted the visuals to look clean, I knew it was important to fix this scene. I decided to refilm at my house where I had better control of lighting and noise and also access to better clothes and props. Before setting up, I looked back at my storyboard to make sure the new shot would match the rest of the music video. I positioned my phone on a tripod and experimented with different camera angles. The first take didn’t turn out well because the camera angle was too high. I decided to have my phone at a lower angle and I took it off the tripod. The second take, the lighting in my room was too dim. I adjusted my lamp and opened the curtains to add some natural lighting. The third take was better, but it just didn't come out as good. I needed to have more energy and better posture. The fourth take was finally good enough to use, and it looked much more natural and I was very confident. I recorded two extra takes just to be safe and to give myself editing options. After filming, I the clip into the CapCut folder while replacing that old scene. I watched the full video again to make sure the new shot blended smoothly with the earlier scenes. The improved lighting and clearer angle made the entire video look much better. I felt very relieved knowing I had taken the time to redo the scene instead of settling for something I didn’t like. This experience reminded me of how many retakes I had already done at the park, especially with the wind and the scenes filmed in portrait. After saving the updated version, I felt confident that the final project would look the best it possibly could.
